6 signs your iPhone needs a new battery
Dubai's heat is hard on phone batteries. Here's how to tell — in plain terms — when your iPhone's battery is worn out, and what actually fixes it.

1. It dies before the day is over
A healthy iPhone comfortably lasts a full day. If you're reaching for a charger by lunch — and you weren't a year ago — the battery, not your usage, is usually the reason.
2. It shuts down suddenly — often at 20-40%
An ageing battery can't deliver steady power, so the phone switches off even though there's charge left. In cooler air it may switch back on and show 30% again. That's a classic worn-battery sign.
3. It gets hot doing simple things
Warmth during gaming or navigation is normal. Heat while you're just messaging or scrolling is not — and in Dubai's climate, extra heat wears the battery down even faster.
4. Everything feels slower
To protect a weak battery, iOS quietly slows the phone down. If apps open sluggishly and there was no recent iOS update to blame, a tired battery is a likely cause.
5. Battery Health is under 80%
Open Settings → Battery → Battery Health & Charging. Below 80% Maximum Capacity, Apple itself says the battery is worn and a replacement will restore normal performance.
6. The screen or back is lifting
A battery that looks swollen — pushing the screen up even slightly — should be checked straight away. Stop charging it and have it looked at by someone who can replace it safely.

Why Dubai is tougher on iPhone batteries
Lithium-ion batteries age faster in heat, and Dubai gives them plenty of it. A phone left on a car dashboard on Sheikh Zayed Road, used outdoors in a Marina summer, or charged in a hot room ages quicker than one kept cool. That's why many iPhones across Dubai, Al Wasl, JLT and Business Bay need a fresh battery a little sooner than the global average. Keeping the phone out of direct sun and not charging it while it's already hot both help it last longer.

What to do next
First, check your Battery Health number (Settings → Battery). If it's under 80% or you recognise a few of the signs above, a fresh battery will usually make the phone feel new again — no need to replace the whole device. A good battery swap is quick and keeps your data untouched; your phone stays sealed with your own passcode throughout.
